GRAPHIC DESIGN

Promotional Poster

These are examples of our posters to promote the PH Classic, however for this project we were only required to photograph and Photoshop the model, we were all given the same basic template to put them in to. We each were first required to pick a pose, we were to find a pose that spoke to use. The pose I chose was the pose displayed of the left. The program we used was of coarse, Adobe Photoshop.

  "SELF REQUIEM”
Photography and Design by Nicholas Robidoux

For this project we were instructed to create a design with photography and photoshop to express our Muse; what inspires us. My Muse is the desire to find my true self, and end my loneliness by finding love with another. For starters the person in the picture is not me, but my companion Scott Varley. This depiction of my inner self is supposed to suggest uncertainty to the viewer, uncertainty in ones self. This is the cause for the fog and obscure floating question marks. The question marks represent the question of “who am I?” and the fog is meant to suggest the mysteriousness of the man (a.k.a my inner self). The symbols in the eyes are in fact constructed from 8 question marks each, therefore they also further the questioning theme of the photo. The split of light and shadow on the man contributes to the theme of uncertainty being neither in the light or the shadow. The expression of the man projects his loneliness, being lost in the fog which is a metaphor on the man keeping his true self hidden, but not by choice, this is only because he has lost/not yet found his true self. The is an addition to the theme of loneliness, for even thought the moon is accompanied by millions of stars, in reality they are ever so out of it's reach. The ball of light suggest his desperation to find someone, this man offers the only light he has for even a small chance to find love, to end the loneliness.
